BYRON NELSON AND BEN HOGAN, 1946

Byron Nelson, the 1937 and ’42 Masters champion, and Ben Hogan exchange pleasantries on the first tee of Augusta National Golf Club.

At the 1946 Masters Ben Hogan and Herman Kaiser both three-putted the 72nd hole, allowing Kaiser to win by one stroke. Nelson would finish in a tie for seventh. Hogan would go on to win the Masters in 1951 and ’53.
